Focus

  • Graffiti Nature
    Graffiti Nature
【Graffiti Nature in a Beating Valley - Symbiotic Lives, A Whole Year per Year】 Beating Valley is a three-dimensional terrain that shifts and undulates as visual and physical cognition become separated. All the various creatures drawn by everyone live in the Beating Valley. Color in a creature on the paper provided, and see the picture you have drawn come to life and move in front of you. Living things eat and are eaten by other living things in one shared ecosystem. The creatures you draw will multiply if they eat other living things, but they will die and disappear if they do not eat enough, or if they are eaten by other creatures. The salamanders eat the snakes, the snakes eat the lizards, the lizards eat the frogs, and the frogs eat the butterflies, each one propagating as a result. Likewise, the butterflies multiply in places where flowers grow. Although flowers will bloom if people stay still, their petals will scatter if people walk around and step on them. Salamanders will die if people step on them too much. Living creatures spread throughout the world, increasing and decreasing in number. The creatures you have drawn may be increasing somewhere. At times, the artwork responds to Animals of Flowers, Symbiotic Lives - A Whole Year per Year, and flowers of the current season in the real world begin to grow and bloom from the creatures. When people step on the animals made of flowers, the flower petals scatter.
  • Waterfall Droplets
    Waterfall Droplets
【Waterfall Droplets, Little Drops Cause Large Movement】 Many water droplets fall and flow along the terrain. When just one droplet splashes it bounces like a ball, but when people use their entire body to gather and collect the droplets, they act like water. When the droplets separate from each other, they bounce like balls again. A water molecule on its own is not liquid. In order for water to be a liquid, many water molecules must come together. Because water molecules act like magnets, they stick to each other, forming a group of water molecules (a water cluster). Water clusters have an extremely short lifespan and are thought to be constantly being created and broken apart. They have a very dynamic structure and because of that, water can change into various forms. Most living things and objects in this world, through properties that are more than the simple sum of the properties of their parts, appear as a whole.
  • Animals of Flowers
    Animals of Flowers
【Animals of Flowers, Symbiotic Lives - A Whole Year per Year】 Seasonal flowers bloom while slowly changing. Animals are born from those flowers. The flowers continue to bloom and die in an eternal cycle, forming the shapes of animals. When people touch the animals, the flower petals scatter. If people touch the animals too much, all of the flowers will scatter, and the animals will die and fade away.
  • Waterfall Droplets, Flowing Down a Slope
Waterfall Droplets, Flowing Down a Slope
【Shoes must be removed, and cotton socks must be worn in this area.】 Many water droplets flow down a slope. A single droplet bounces like a ball, but when many are gathered together, they behave like water. When they break apart, they behave like a ball again. When people climb the steps up the hill, the droplets near the step receive energy and break apart.
  • Sliding through the Fruit Field
    Sliding through the Fruit Field
【Shoes must be removed, and cotton socks must be worn in this area.】 This is a slide where fruit grows. Various kinds of fruit are growing on the slope. Balls are also bouncing around. You become the sunlight and slide down the slope. When your body collides with the balls, your sunlight energy will be transferred to them, and they will go flying off in all directions. When the balls collide with the fruit, the fruit will begin to grow. Each ball has a different role depending on its color. A light blue ball represents water: when this ball hits the seeds, they sprout, bud, and blossom. When a yellow honey bee ball hits the flowers, they are pollinated, and the flowers become fruit. When the fruit is hit by a ball, new seeds are sown, leading to new life.
  • Sketch Umwelt World
    Sketch Umwelt World
Color in an airplane, dolphin, hawk, or butterfly on the paper provided and see the picture you have drawn appear three-dimensionally, flying through the world. If you touch them, they speed up or fly away. You can control the plane, dolphin, hawk, or butterfly with your smartphone and see the world from their perspectives on the screen. Each living creature understands the world only through their own perception, so the world looks different depending on the creature. Such worlds constructed upon each creature's unique perceptual experiences are called umwelt. Here, you control the airplane through a lens like a pilot. However, if a living creature is chosen, you can control them and see the world in a completely different way. Dolphins emit sounds and perceive the world through the echoes. Just as the sound of striking metal differs from that of plastic, they can even recognize differences in materials. While fresh flowers and artificial flowers may appear the same to humans, dolphins perceive them as entirely different. Since dolphins' eyes do not recognize the color of light, the world they experience may be a world of colors completely different from that of humans. Hawks can see two things clearly at once. When a person focuses on one thing, it is difficult to see the surrounding elements. However, the hawks can observe small creatures on the ground while looking ahead of them as they fly. Tap an area you want to zoom in on the tablet, and that area will appear bigger on the screen. Butterflies have a 344-degree horizontal field of vision, and almost a 360-degree vertical field of vision. With the tablet, you can see the world not only in front of you, but on both sides and behind you as well.
  • Light Ball Orchestra
    Light Ball Orchestra
Rolling a light-ball changes its color and sound. Combined, the light-balls form an orchestra! The overhead light-balls communicate with those on the floor, as one is touched, the surrounding balls will be affected, changing the color of the entire space. Roll the light-ball in front of you and it will change color and release sound. In the same space participants use their bodies, interacting with the light-balls to change the color of the space and to make music.
  • Hopscotch for Geniuses: Bounce on the Water
Hopscotch for Geniuses: Bounce on the Water
Bounce on the Water is a bouncy water floor. Children jump on the squares, triangles, and circles floating on the water. If you jump on the same shape in succession, a fish, butterfly, or bird is created for each shape. If you jump on the same color in succession, the color spreads out across the space. If you jump on the same shape or the same color in succession, the world will become richer and richer. If you touch the fish, butterflies, or birds that move along the walls, the animals will dissolve into the world.
  • A Musical Wall where Little People Live
A Musical Wall where Little People Live
This is a musical wall where little people live. The little people run around inside the world of the wall, oblivious to us. However, when stamps of various shapes such as mushrooms, sheep barns, or long sticks of ice are attached to the wall, these objects appear in the world of the little people. The little people notice these and start jumping onto them. Depending on the stamp, the little people will slide, jump, or climb on top of them. If the stamp is removed, the stamp in the world of the little people will remain for a moment longer before disappearing. Attach various stamps to the wall, and the little people will play with delight. Seeds with smiley faces come falling down from above. When the seeds hit the stamps, various notes in different pitches play depending on the type and position of the stamp they hit, eventually creating music.
  • A Table where Little People Live
A Table where Little People Live
This is a table where little people live. The little people run around the table, oblivious to us. However, if you put something, such as your hand, on top of the table, the little people will notice and jump on to it. Depending on the shape of the objects you place on the table, the little people will slide, jump, or climb. Place many objects on the table and the little people will play with delight.
