Light up the future：Stories of Recovery and Reconstruction after MORAKOT(希望 · 未來 莫拉克風災紀念廳)
In 2009, typhoon Morakot devastated southern and eastern Taiwan. Lots of people lost their family and homes. After the disaster, our government and the society has been on the road to recovery and rebuilding. Five years later, Morakot Typhoon Post-Disaster Reconstruction Council, Executive Yuan has established Morakot Post-Disaster Reconstruction Exhibit Hall in NSTM. The exhibition hall included the complete events caused by Morakot and the experience of disaster relief and reconstructions.
2019 marks the 10th anniversary of typhoon Morakot. Under the supervision of Executive Yuan and the organization of Ministry of Education and NSTM, the exhibition has been renewed and reopened with the name “Stories of Recovery and Reconstruction after Morakot.” The exhibition puts stress on the prospects of recovery and development ten years after the disaster; and showcases the new concepts and results of disaster prevention and response in recent years. It is aimed at raising safety awareness of the masses, and facilitate the culture of disaster prevention.
