The Science of Cooking(烹調的科學)

The Science of Cooking(烹調的科學)

This exhibition focuses on cooking as its core, showcasing the connection between science and daily life. It introduces the scientific knowledge behind cooking principles, integrating agri-food education with smart cooking technologies to enhance awareness of food sources and technological applications. It also emphasizes innovation and sustainable development in culinary culture, presenting an in-depth dialogue between science and life. The Science of Cooking exhibition hall is a fascinating journey from the kitchen to the realm of science! Centered around cooking, it unveils the scientific secrets behind food, exploring the exciting connections from culinary arts to technology. Seemingly ordinary cooking actually contains boundless knowledge, encompassing not only the chemical mysteries of ingredient transformation but also incorporating agri-food education and smart cooking technologies. Through interactive design, visitors become “scientific chefs,” observing the changing ingredients during heating, preparing dishes hands-on, or using smart devices to create “future meals.” You can also explore international culinary techniques and understand the scientific connections between taste and smell. This is a space full of fun and learning, where everyone can discover their own little universe of cooking science. The exhibition hall is suitable for anyone interested in the science of cooking, the stories behind food and agri-food education. The exhibition hall offers audio guides, smart cooking interactive experiences, and robot chef ordering services. These can be accessed using the “NSTM Mobile” webpage, https://mobile.nstm.gov.tw/ (currently available in Chinese only.) Remember to register and log in if you want to use the smart cooking and robot services! Additionally, the family kitchen area will host educational activities from time to time. Please follow the museum’s official website and event registration system for details!

Power and Machines(動力與機械)

Power and Machines(動力與機械)

Today, the advancement of mechanical technology remains the cornerstone of technological development. Here, we will understand and  experience the profound impact of power and mechanical technology on human life. With social changes and the evolution of industrial technology, we have entered the era of smart manufacturing. Meanwhile, we will learn about the history of industrial robots and the trends of future technology development. The exhibition is mainly divided into three exhibition areas: mechanical principles, power sources, and complex machinery. The mechanical principle exhibition includes the introduction of mechanical components and kinematic pair. The power source exhibition includes the introduction of windmills, hydraulic wheels, steam engines, engines, and smart motors. The complex machinery exhibition includes smart mobile devices, machine tools, injection molding machines, locks, industrial robots, and more. This hall translates technological inventions into story-based scenarios, and transforms abstract scientific principles and complicated electro-mechanical  structures into fun interactive experiences. Through interacting with robotic arms, visitor can directly experience the applications of intelligent robots, gaining insight in the trends of intelligent and innovative industries which are developing rapidly and will significantly impact our lives. This exhibition hall is suitable for middle school students and above, as well as all visitors interested in power machinery.

Telecom@Taiwan(電信@臺灣)

Telecom@Taiwan(電信@臺灣)

In 2004, the NSTM and Chunghwa Telecom collaborated on the restoration of telecommunications artifacts. To preserve Taiwan’s telecommunication cultural heritage, they jointly launched the “Telecom@ Taiwan” exhibition hall in 2011. The hall showcases over 900 telecommunications artifacts, presents stories through multimedia audiovisuals, and incorporates interactive games to help visitors understand the science and significance of telecommunications technology. This hall presents the nearly 150-year history of telecommunications in Taiwan and the development of telecommunications technology. It features over 900 valuable Taiwanese telecommunications artifacts, numerous exciting audiovisual and interactive games, and introductions to the latest telecommunications services. It also encourages visitors to reflect on the future of telecommunications technology. The entire hall is divided into 14 zones, each introducing significant telecommunication historical developments and technologies along a timeline. Visitors can explore the development of telecommunications in Taiwan from two different perspectives, the development of the industry’s history or the progression of telecommunication technology, both ending with the introduction of telecommunication today. This hall offers a comprehensive journey through the past and present of Taiwan’s information and communications history, inviting you to explore and learn together! The exhibition hall is suitable for all visitors  interested in the history and the technical development of information and communications. The exhibition hall features an AR mobile guide called ”5G Mystery: Decoding the Telecom Hall,” which uses new technology to provide lively interpretations of old artifacts. This allows visitors to learn relevant knowledge in an AR virtual-reality integrated environment, experience the features of 5G firsthand and spark an interest in exploring information and communications science.
